Minako was born in Tokyo, 14th November 1985. Aged 15, she moved to England to study at boarding school deep in the Gloucestershire countryside. She experienced a traditional British way of life that she quickly fell in love with. Minako the returned to city living., this time in the heart of London at the London College of Fashion. She spent four years focusing on blending her creativity with the hallmarks of British fashion heritage.

After graduating in 2010, she was instinctively drawn to the European centre of leather craft, Madrid. Here she met her maestro, Valentín del Barrio, a legendary craftsman formerly of the luxury brand LOEWE. Under his guidance, her respect and passion for handcrafts grew stronger than ever before. Having gained the skills of an artisan, she returned to Tokyo and established her own atelier.
